Our approach

Diagnosis first. Always.

Most plumbing complaints have more than one possible cause, and the difference between them is thousands of dollars. A sewer backup might be a root ball we can cut in an hour or a collapsed lateral that needs replacing. Guessing at that over the phone helps nobody.

So we inspect first. Camera in the line, gauge on the system, meter checked. Then you get one number for a scope we've both looked at, and we hold to it unless something genuinely unexpected turns up — in which case you hear about it before it becomes a cost.

More about us

What that means for you

  • A quote written after someone has actually seen the problem
  • Both repair options priced when both genuinely apply
  • Surprises brought to you as a decision, not an invoice line
  • Work we don't do named honestly, with a referral where we can
What we do

Six specialties, not a menu of everything

We've narrowed down to the work we do often enough to do well. If your problem isn't here, call anyway and we'll point you somewhere honest.

01

Water Leak Detection & Automatic Shutoff

Find the leak before it finds your drywall — plus shutoff systems that kill the water on their own.

Details →
02

Slab Leak Repair

Warm spots, hissing under the floor, a water bill that jumped. We locate it and lay out your real options.

Details →
03

Sewer Line Repair & Replacement

Root-crushed clay, cracked cast iron, bellied lines — dug or trenchless, depending on what the pipe actually needs.

Details →
04

Drain & Sewer Camera Inspection

Stop guessing. A camera run shows the blockage, the break, and exactly how far down it sits.

Details →
05

Tankless Water Heater Services

Install, descale, and repair — including honest talk about when tankless isn't the right call for your house.

Details →
06

Kitchen & Bath Remodel Plumbing

Rough-in, relocation, and final connections that pass inspection and match your contractor's schedule.

How it goes

Our process

STEP 01

Tell us the symptoms

What the house is doing, when it started, and whether anything's actively leaking.

STEP 02

We inspect and confirm

Camera, gauge, or meter — whatever the problem calls for — so the cause is known, not assumed.

STEP 03

One number, agreed upfront

You get a firm price for a scope you've seen, plus the alternatives when they exist.

STEP 04

Repair and verify

We fix it, then test or re-camera it to confirm the fix actually holds.

Early warning signs

Six things worth calling about

01Water bill climbed and nothing about your usage changed
02More than one drain backing up on the same day
03A warm patch on the floor you can feel through socks
04Hot water goes cold when a second tap opens
05Toilet gurgles when the washer drains
06Soggy or unusually green strip across the yard

None of these is automatically a disaster. All of them are worth a look while they're still small — that's usually the whole difference in what the repair costs.

Customer comments

What people say afterward

“Camera showed the roots in the line and he turned the screen so I could see it myself. Quote came after that, not before.”

AlejandroSouth San Antonio

“We had a slab leak. They priced both the patch and the reroute, explained why they'd reroute, and didn't push when I asked for a night to think.”

WhitneySouthtown

“Tankless kept cutting out. Turned out it just needed descaling, which they told me instead of selling me a new unit.”

Coverage

Where we work

We're based on TX-536 Spur on San Antonio's south side and work across the city and the communities around it — generally within about 25 miles. That covers Southtown, Stinson, Brooks, downtown, the near north and northwest sides, and out toward places like Terrell Hills, Leon Valley, Windcrest, Converse, and Von Ormy.

If your address is near the edge of that, call and ask before booking. We'd rather tell you no on the phone than cancel on you the day of.

Questions we get asked

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge to come out and look?

For most calls there's a diagnostic or trip charge, and we tell you the amount when you book. Where a job is quoted from a site visit rather than diagnostics — a remodel or a tankless install, for example — that visit is usually free. We'll be specific about which applies to you on the phone.

Why do you insist on inspecting before quoting?

Because a sewer backup can be roots, a belly, a crack, or a collapse, and those are wildly different repairs. Any number given before someone looks is either padded to cover the worst case or low enough that it'll change later. We'd rather look first and quote once.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, Penguin Plumbing Pros is licensed and insured to perform plumbing work in the State of Texas. Our technicians will show credentials on request when they arrive.

What if the repair uncovers something you didn't expect?

We stop and show you. Older San Antonio homes hide corroded galvanized line, prior unpermitted work, and surprises behind walls. Anything outside the original scope comes to you as a separate decision with its own price, not as a line item you discover on the invoice.

Which parts of San Antonio do you serve?

We're on TX-536 Spur on the south side and cover San Antonio and nearby communities, generally within about 25 miles. If you're near the edge of that, call and ask — we'll give you a straight yes or no rather than booking and rescheduling.

Can I get a price over the phone?

For simple, well-defined work we can often give you a real number or a tight range. For anything where the cause is unknown — leaks, sewer problems, slab issues — a phone price would be a guess, and we don't give those.
